Shawls/Jacquards/Stoles
Triangle shawls have hand-knotted silk fringe on two
sides. Often used for other than a typical
shawl, e.g., tied around the hips or over one shoulder under
the opposite arm and then tied at waist. |

Scarves
Scarves are available in Habotai, Crepe de Chine and
Charmeuse. Often used as a summer evening shawl, sash
or belt.

Framed
Silk Art
As with her wearable silks, Sandy's framed fine art flows
with energy and vibrancy.
Her colors range from muted and subtle to amazingly dynamic,
sometimes within the same piece.
However she chooses to use colors, the finished
product always "works" and is one of the many
reasons for her success. |

Grasshopper Silk Studio is located in Sierra County, New Mexico near
Elephant Butte Lake. The artist is represented by:

Ms. Hopper
creates fine works of art on luminescent silk. Wearable silk art
that includes Ruanas or capes, scarves of every length and style.
She loves creating special occasion and wedding attire, such as cocoon, butterfly
jackets, kimonos, and sarongs. Lovely silk shawls with whispery soft
fringe are a specialty. She also creates unique silk panels for shoji
or privacy screens. The artist worked in oils for over 20 years
creating fine works of art. Allergies to traditional oils
precipitated the transition to working with silk. However, Hopper
continues to work in oils on a limited basis and includes a dedicated gallery page just for
her oil paintings. Silk is
perfect for every occasion, from casual cowboy to formal
Victorian and
unique custom home decor. Silk is a durable, easy care
yet magnificently elegant fabric. Cool in summer and warm is winter
due to it's natural properties.
You are welcome to visit the studio to learn about the processes
used to create these unique items. Grasshopper Silk Studio, located at
Hot Springs Landing, Elephant Butte Lake, New Mexico is open Sat and Sun from 11am to
4pm, or call for a special appointment

When visiting Grasshopper Silk Studio you might want to see the future
site of "Space-Port America" located just to the south-east of
Elephant Butte Lake near Ted Turners Armendaris Ranch. The area
offers excellent golfing at TURTLEBACK MOUNTAIN GOLF RESORT. Coming
soon to the area is the "Hot Springs Motor-Plex".
"Gallery Hop" in historic downtown Truth or Consequences
happens the second Saturday of each month.
